Our People

Care for People, Clients and Communities

We focus on people — ours, our clients’ and the millions that live and work in the communities we serve. Our Placemakers care about their clients, because we care about and invest in them. We create joy — whether through hospitality-driven, everyday interactions or consistent delivery of delicious food that fuels connections. These everyday touchpoints make ordinary days feel extraordinary.
An Unwavering, Foundational Pillar

Serving Clients by Serving People

ISS was founded in 1901 to provide protection to the greater Copenhagen population at a time of rising crime. Since then, our dedication to improving the lives of people has never waivered — nor has our understanding that our people are our service. We have added capabilities over the years in response to client needs for work environments where life is easier, more productive and enjoyable: first cleaning, then technical services, support services, workplace experience and capital projects. For us, people make places and places make people, and our hospitality-trained team members, called “Placemakers,” are driven by purpose, recognizing the importance of their role in client outcomes — and the ripple effects their success can have on the broader community.

Our Culture

Acceptance, Inclusion, Empowerment, Advancement: The ISS Workplace

Better work environments start with a fair and inclusive society, and ISS strives to provide opportunities for personal advancement for its people, while also securing the best talent worldwide. We seek to be THE company of belonging, knowing that diverse perspectives breed innovation and great people can and do make a difference. All our actions reflect the values of honesty, responsibility, entrepreneurship, quality and unity. Through recognition, training and development, fair compensation and benefits, and the opportunity to fulfill one’s own ambition, we fuel a culture that embraces and celebrates authenticity, creativity, productivity, a service mindset and a passion for extraordinary experiences.

A Natural Progression

Hospitality: The Great Differentiator

Five-star hotels are known for making guests feel welcome, special, supported and connected. Hospitality is the foundation underlying the services provided in those institutions — and our secret for transforming companies into communities. Our Placemakers create moments that matter, from the time a receptionist greets an employee in the morning, to a chef’s smile in the café and a cleaner’s directions for a lost visitor. Channeling hospitality through both orchestrated touchpoints and pre-emptive actions is just one more way ISS’ placemakers make workplaces more than just places to work.
