Diversity is our strength, inclusion is our practice and belonging is our promise — and creating safe, welcoming and accepting workplaces is an ISS priority. But taking action on diversity and inclusion beyond policy statements requires awareness and knowledge of the circumstances and characteristics of a diverse workforce. Seven dimensions reflective of our business, employee and client perspectives, and the dynamics of an evolving society serve as the framework for our approach to this goal in North America. Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) for each dimension act as forums for sharing and addressing topics and issues of particular relevance to each of them.

Prioritizing Well-being through Awareness and Education
Given the challenges of the tasks performed by our Placemakers as part of day-to-day facility services, an obsession with safety is critical. ISS cultivates a culture where physical and psychological safety for both our people and those we serve is second nature — and a meaningful, visible part of everyday work.
Our program — “Creating SAFE Spaces Together” — promotes a strong and positive safety culture through regularly updated standards, central guidance and behavioral safety training. From onboarding to daily safety briefings, skill development, incident management, employee engagement and empowerment, recognition, and monitoring and continuous learning, our teams keep abreast of best practices in safety. For clients, this translates to reduced risk, stronger compliance and safe, high-performing workplaces.
