Chefs from all across the world came together to compete live for the world championship.
March 22, 2017 – Two members from the ISS US food services team were selected to compete in the first ever ISS International Culinary Competition in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Teams of two representing countries all across the world, including Belgium, Denmark, Israel, Norway, Slovenia, Turkey, and the UK competed live for the world championship – preparing, cooking and presenting live for an audience and panel of judges.
Representing the United States was ISS Executive Chef, Jeffrey Knight and Chef, Brodrick Boren for the ISS GoDaddy account. As part of the competition, teams were asked to prepare 2 plated portions of a Main Course, and 2 plated portions of a dessert from a box of mystery ingredients in a 45 minute time period.
The event was judged by Chris Towler, Head of Excellence for Catering; Jacob Götzsche, Regional CEO for Central Europe; and Dan Ryan, Regional CEO for the Americas. First place went to ISS Denmark, but all teams were praised for their innovative dishes and being amongst the best in the ISS group.
Jeffrey Knight stated, “Taking part in the ISS international culinary competition was such an honor and it was an amazing opportunity to meet all of my chef counterparts from around the globe. Each chef who took part in the competition represented their respective country, but we all represent a company’s whose vision is to be the world’s greatest in all aspects of service. Being a part of this competition was definitely one of the highlights of my career and I would like to thank Chris Towler, Andy Tester and all of the other hard working people that put this competition together.”
