PHOENIX, AZ November 17, 2008 - ISS Grounds Control received the Environmental Improvement Grand Award at the 39th annual Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. ISS Grounds Control was recognized with this national award for their outstanding landscape designs and eco friendly green roofs at the Optima at Camelview Village project.
Optima at Camelview is a premiere residential development located in Scottsdale, Arizona. ISS Grounds Control acquired the multi-million dollar contract in November 2005, and started working with developer David Hovey and landscape architecture designer, Floor Associates, to create a distinctive outdoor atmosphere for this 14-acre sanctuary, including over 700 individually designed private terraces and a green roof that spans across a majority of the 11-building community.
The unique integration of high quality products, state-of-the-art landscape technology, design requests, and overall attention to detail is what set apart ISS Grounds Control from other landscape and design companies.
The unique urban design of Optima at Camelview brought forth many challenges for the ISS Grounds Control team. “This is the most challenging landscape project we’ve ever done”, explains Todd Huston, General Manager of ISS Grounds Control in Phoenix. By adapting to the challenges and design changes, ISS Grounds Control was able to tackle each individual assignment openly, while maintaining incomparable ingenuity, sustainability, and overall residential privacy.
The design of the grounds at Optima, led by Dan Scholl and Thom Landauer included screening each patio without interrupting the serenity of the atmosphere. The entire grounds are watered by a computer generated, two wire irrigation controller including a fertigation system carefully supplying calculated amounts of water and nutrients to the abundant plant material. The overall project is based on line of sight, leaping from unit to unit, utilizing tens of thousands of native and semi-native plant and tree materials.
Receiving this award not only affirms approval and satisfaction for ISS Grounds Control Phoenix, but also brings national recognition in the landscape and green roof industries.
