ISS announced today that its North America business will support the professional development of Hispanic refugees as they look to restart or advance in their careers. In collaboration with the Tent Partnership for Refugees (Tent), a global network of more than 300 companies committed to creating economic opportunity for refugees, ISS commits to mentoring 50 or more Hispanic refugees over three years.

“ISS strives to be a company of belonging, and partnering with Tent allows us the opportunity to help people seeking better lives,” said Lisa Mitchell Kastner, Head of People and Culture for ISS’s North America business. “Through our mentoring efforts, we are advancing our legacy as a people company, and we are living out our mission of connecting people and places to make the world work better.”

Tent worked closely with the National Hispanic Corporate Council in launching the mentorship initiative with the goal of accelerating the economic integration of Hispanic refugees. The U.S. has welcomed hundreds of thousands of forcibly displaced people from Latin America over the past decade – including from Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, and the Northern Triangle – and Tent’s Hispanic Refugee Mentorship Program will provide these newcomers with professional mentorship opportunities.

ISS’s commitment builds upon its efforts to support, hire, and integrate refugees into its workforce and the communities in which ISS operates.

In partnership with Tent, ISS recently has committed to hiring refugees across its North American and European operations. In North America, ISS also has committed to mentoring Afghan and women refugees. In Europe, ISS signed up to Tent’s Sunflower Project, committing to hire, train and mentor Ukrainian refugees in Poland and Spain. During the past year, ISS has hired more than 550 refugees in Europe alone.

The integrated facilities management service mix for ISS includes the provision of technical, food, workplace, and cleaning services, among others. The company provides these offerings across major industry segments, including life sciences, healthcare, technology, manufacturing, banking and professional services, and aviation.
